Drinking turmeric is a health benefits supplement, according to Dr. James L. Green, director of the Institute for Integrative Medicine and Nutrition at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine.
“The turmeric contains a compound called quercetin that has been shown to prevent blood clots, which in turn reduces the chance of heart disease,” Green told Business Insider.
“So you can’t go to the doctor and say, ‘I need to stop drinking turamarin because I have heart disease.’
You need to be really careful about the way you’re using it.”
Turmeric is an herb popular among Native Americans and Asian populations.
The root is harvested in Indonesia and used in traditional Chinese medicine for centuries, but it’s now popular in Asia and the Middle East as a source of dietary fiber.
In China, the plant has been touted as a remedy for asthma, which can be caused by the pollutants in air.
The plant is also said to improve blood circulation, so people with cardiovascular disease may benefit from using it to improve their blood pressure and blood flow, according the American Heart Association.
Green and other researchers have suggested that the herb’s effects on blood flow may be due to its anti-inflammatory effects.
Green said it’s not clear whether turmeric supplements work in people who have already suffered a heart attack.
“We have no studies to prove that turmeric actually helps reduce heart attacks,” Green said.
“That’s a very, very small number of people.”
The FDA has also denied a petition by the Center for Food Safety, which called for the agency to ban turmeric and other supplements from the U.S. Green has a different theory on the effectiveness of turmeric.
“I think the reason people are skeptical is because there’s not enough data to support it,” Green explained.
“It’s not a magic bullet, it’s a treatment that can be effective in some people.
It can help you lose weight, or it can help prevent a heart event.”
The supplement has also been touted for its antihistamine, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties.
Green told us that turaminin supplements can also help improve immune function and fight inflammation.
Green recommends drinking the herb once a day.
“Try to drink it in small amounts for a couple of hours, just a couple minutes,” he said.
You can also take a supplement, like a mixture of turaminos and water, which contains a variety of turamexins, such as turamidone and salicylic acid, Green said, noting that you don’t need to take a lot of turamingetin supplements to get good results.
Green also said that turamingets are effective for treating high blood pressure.
“You can have a heartburn for weeks and then just take a turamingethin and go home and do your yoga for five days and you’re going to be much better,” Green added.
“But you can have high blood pressures and high cholesterol and diabetes and hypertension and all kinds of things, and you can take a couple turamingeta pills a day.”
